This is probably the wrong forum for this but no pain no gain.

A local user just installed a TRBO system. I have tried closecall and a freq counter on one of the units but have had no luck in locating the freq. If nessessary i will have the search the freq range of the unit (403-470) untill i hit the signal. Has anyone any suggestions on how to capture the freq easier. Industry canada has no listing but thats not too surprising.

Close Call should do the trick if you are stalking them.... you can also try manually searching, but break it down into sections... 450-460, 460-470 etc. Even if they aren't transmitting, there should be what sounds like a mic being keyed every 10 seconds or so... sort of like an idle burst on an LTR system. So with a little searching you should be able to track it down.

FWIW, my 330t does not stop on TRBO traffic with only one slot active in close call.

Really... that's interesting. My Pro-106 has no problems grabbing the local PD's TRBO transmissions using Signal Stalker....

Located the freq. I had to do it the hardway with an antenna pointed at the building and high squelch on a scanner in search mode.

This is way interesting .. i reserched TRBO and was informed that no scanner can capture TRBO its on the list with iDen and others like it used for telecom and course the new Moto system. ... .Will have to try this one for a local agency.

I think you misunderstand the use of the word "capture" in this context. It merely
means getting a Close-Call/Signal Stalker hit, not decoding the digital audio and
being able to hear the transmissions. What you will "hear" is a grinding noise. As
for trying ot on your scanner, no need to bother. There is some software that runs
on Linux that can decode TRBO, assuming it is not encrypted.

Check out the Software Decoding forum on this site. Plenty of posts there.

Fortunatly Im not too interested in what they are saying. However I do like to keep my local frequency list current and uptodate. I am finding more and more agencies are going the TRBO route.

I heard a rumour that Perth County fire is concidering changing their whole system to TRBO. I contacted the agency but got no info aside from a general statement that the system is old and requires upgrades and updating.
