Hey Justin: I'm glad you got hooked up with the N.E. Vollies! I've not met any of their people (except you) as yet, but I do know some of the Greenwood guys.
As to your comment, Ector County went digital on their main channel about a year ago; and you've seen the discussion here about Odessa's new digital system. When I'm mobile I can hear Odessa just fine; but at home I don't get them all that well. I think it's an antenna problem. What gripes me about the OFD part of the system is that they've totally encrypted the ambulance-to-hospital traffic, claiming that it's a "privacy" issue. That's b.s.: MFD still does their ambulance traffic openly on their EDACS system. From what I've been told, the privacy issue would apply only if a patient's name is being used. I rode with OFD extensively when I was in paramedic school, and they don't use patient names on the air....only vitals and age, etc.
Any idea when they're going to put the volunteer depts. on a digital system? As you know, Midland S.O.'s primary channel is already digital, so I'm sure that wouldn't be a big problem for the volunteer depts. Midland's "common" channel is still analog @ 155.61.
I've dropped you a PM. Look forward to hearing from you, or maybe seeing you soon. Are you still in L.E. or back working for the trucking co.? Skip.
