Anyone have any info on scanning clubs/groups...

I'm just wondering if anyone has any info on scanning clubs/groups. I guess I'm just looking to see if any groups of this kind exist. I think it would be kind of cool if these type groups are around. I mean a couple of people that are all interested in scanning, ham, cb, etc. and get together to chit chat and even go out and monitor special events and what not. Air shows, presidential visits, anything like that. Let me know if anyone has heard of this type of stuff.

I know there are a couple of clubs of scanner users out there since I'll see one mentioned from time to time in print such as Monitoring Times.
For web based Groups, you'll find plenty of such groups.

Yeah I know there are alot of web based groups out there, but I'm just inquiring about groups in communities or regional areas. I think it would be neat to have a group of people with common radio interest, get together and shoot the breeze and monitor whatever they want. Be it aviation, ham, cb, local pd/fd, etc. Maybe get together have a little cook out every once in a while. I personally like to go out and monitor at different locations at night, and also special events. It changes things up, rather than sit in the house and monitor all the time.

My club, the Derby City Radioactives is a group for all radio hobbies but we require that our members live in Kentucky or Indiana to keep the club close-knit. I want to get to know the members as people instead of just member numbers. www.DerbyCityRadioactives.bravehost.com

While its not an actual club, there is a group of guys in the Minneapolis/St Paul area they get together from time to time to talk about scanners and share information. I've never been to a meeting since it always seem to fall on times when i have something going. I know this doesn't help you much being where you are. But maybe you could post something in the boards for your are and try to set up something similar.
