• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm told that it's a rebranded Anytone, but I'm not sure which one. There are no reviews in Amazon yet for Radioddity DB50. I was hoping AntennaFarm would offer it, but they don't. The removable front panel would work well in my pickup.

Anyone have any review to share? Here is the rig: Radioddity DB50
I can say now after having and using the Radioddity DB-50 that it's been a workhorse for me in my vehicle.
As a certified storm-spotter out during storms and need to make sure that i have a dependable way to communicate with others either while out spotting or being able to talk to a NOAA command center with information concerning the weather around me.
This radio is easy to program on my laptop by entering all my frequency information then just taking my laptop out to my radio in my vehicle and upload all the changes that need to be changed and it's ready to go.
It has 4 different power levels and I haven't had any problems reaching repeaters as far as 20-25 miles from my location. I've had good reports on how I'm sounding and the clarity of my transmissions.
So I'd say anybody looking for a dependable mobile radio this would be a great choice. I'm thinking of buying another one to go in my other vehicle.
Hope this helps anyone looking to buy the Radioddity DB-50 that has 50 watts of power when you need it most.

Not sure how I've missed this thread three times.

I've been using a DB-50 for a few months now, and find it to be a pretty good rig, especially for the price. For programming, the RT Systems CPS is much better than CHIRP for the DB-50. It's a re-branded Anytone, but it has some added functionality that doesn't play well with CHIRP.

I use mine primarily as a receiver; it beats the daylight out of any of my scanners for sensitivity. I listen to a lot of analog on the scanners and tune the DB-50 to monitor as needed. It also gets tuned through the NOAA stations multiple times daily checking propagation.

An added benefit is being able to inhibit transmit for the entire radio, and not only on a per channel basis. Keeps curious fingers legal and my scanners un-deafened.

It's definitely on the repeat purchase list.
