Still waiting for them to implement the 'talker alias' that was added to the standard recently.
No remote repeater programming? Man, after I wasted all that time patiently waiting for Motorola to include IP repeater programming as a standard feature they just drop it.
AND you had to buy the IP programming enhancement which is now useless.
Hmmm seeing a lot of doom and gloom end of times talks and judging by the fact that I have gotten a couple of calls from customers who saw this thread and got worried about if they would be affected, I figured I would give my 2 cents.
-CPS2.0 can be stored on the same computer as CPS 1.0 and CPS 2.0 does not need to phone home, CPS2.0 is fully functional as a standalone application. CPS2.0 also makes it very easy to clone from a legacy codeplug and I am actually starting to really like CPS2.0 and the additions they have made to it (although the overall UI is a bit clunky).
-Any radio purchased from around mid-2018 (whenever the service essentials program started) forward already comes with a 5-year subscription so if you have a relatively new fleet of radios and plan on getting more, I recommend upgrading to the latest 2.10 firmware as will be free and will allow you to program everything with one flavor of CPS as new radios will soon start shipping with 2.10 which will require CPS2.0 to program.
-If you bought your mototrbo radio before mid-2018 there is no need to pay for a 5 year subscription unless you have a large fleet of "e" series radios that you would like to program via RM through Wi-Fi (a very convenient tool btw as I was just able to program 150 radios at a clients location in under 30 min) as the 5 year subscription not only gets you new firmware, it also comes with a very nice deal on the radio's Wi-Fi EID license.
-If you do not upgrade the firmware, there is no need to worry, your radio will not explode nor will it cease to function.
-If you choose to not renew your 5-year subscription even if your radio has new firmware, your radio will not explode nor will it cease to function. It will simply not accept any further firmware upgrades after the 5-year timeline is up unless you pay Motorola for another 5 years. The radio can still be reprogrammed and it will still function like normal.
Please know, I am still experimenting with all this new 2.10 FW and CPS2.0 so my outlook may change, however, from what I have seen, it seems like the only thing that is changing is that if you bought your radios pre mid-2018 you would need to get an optional 5 year subscription in order to get new firmware, but, your radio will not explode nor will it cease to function if you choose not to.
Here is what I did: I opened a .ctb codeplug created in CPS 1x with CPS 2.0. The .ctb file extension still opens on my system with CPS 1x by default. I had to run CPS 2 and then I opened the .ctb codeplug from within CPS 2.@DiGiTaLD..
You should look carefully at what you have loaded on your system and what file extensions map to what.. There is NO SUPPORT in CPS 2.0 for Legacy radios AKA: 4000 and 6000 series, and there is no support for 2nd Generation running code older than 2.4. Since you can have CPS 1.n and CPS 2.0 on the same system I expect your XPR 6550's were written with an older install.

The 6550s I am working on with CPS 2.0 are running R01.12.17 firmware and using codeplug 13.02.03. I'm actually cloning a bunch of them as I type this, and its working nicely. What was the firmware version of your Gen1 radio? I'm guessing it was current. That probably won't work with a 1.9 version radio.
I just installed 2.0 and opened an existing code plug created with 16.0. I'm not a fan but maybe I am missing some settings.
Can you open two code plugs and cut and paste between them like 16.0?
