• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey there.

Question for some of the well-versed operators using Anytone's. I'm fairly new to Anytone radios, so please, forgive my lack of knowledge on them.

I bought an anytone 868 off another ham operator, and somehow, they ended up putting the 878 software on it. I didn't realize it until recently, and now the radio is acting all weird. I've tried contacting Anytone through their website, and that was pretty useless, either nobody reads the emails, or they're somewhere in a deep void at the Anytone offices.

I've tried to roll back the software, but none of the usual reset tricks I've found online work. Does anyone know of a way that I can rid this 868UV of the 878UV software? Trying to load it through QXCodePro and through the CPS software (which oddly, the only one that works is the 878 v1.10) doesn't work either.

Obviously, I don't want the wrong software on the radio and would prefer to have the real software that belongs to this radio on it, in case I brick it or totally wreck it.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Or is there really no danger having the wrong software on the radio?

Hi, I managed at one point to do a reset through the CPS using the 878 software. I was able to reinitialize it, but still not able to do a reset. Currently there is no ID in the radio. Is pulling the codeplug the same thing as reinitializing the radio?

(Sorry for the total noob questions with this radio, I appreciate your help :))

No. To initialize, a key press combination is used on power-up.

I dont think the problem is the cross-flash, I think the problem lies in the CP itself.
