To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I actually just bought one off eBay today, a brand new one in the box & all. So far I really like it, the screen looks almost identical to a Motorola XPR-7550 radio, it's about the same size & square build. I haven't tested the DMR capability yet but the receive audio & transmit works really well for VHF & UHF. My only gripe so far is the scanning ability, it scans really slow, like a half-second between channels, I can't find a way to make it faster.

audio format??

Hello, I bought this Anytone model at-d868uv and the question I have is the following one, do you know in what format you save the recorded audio files? Is it the same as the audio format recorded in the trx-1 scanner?
excuse my English.
Thanks and best regards.

I've never seen a way to access them. You can play them on the radio, or send them to another over the air.

Hi, thanks for the download link, what has improved?

A 12 point list included in the zip file. Also a one page how to program from front panel for analog and digital signals. I'm not sure if features were added in the firmware to do this or they are just clarifying how its done.

They did not include the firmware update instructions so I used update #27 which worked fine.

I am still using 2.21. I updated one time after that (maybe 2.23) and had issues with the squelch staying open. I reverted back to 2.21, which works fine for me. I would like to upgrade the firmware. It seems I read somewhere how to overcome the squelch issue.

Would anyone happen to know the process if to correct the squelch if I should need to, or is this even an issue with the newer firmware?

There is instructions within the PDF that comes in the upgrade package about the squelch issue. Here is the quote:

Note:
1. Since we have increased a Squelch off option for Analog mode afterwards FW2.23,
when you open an old codeplug, please reset the analog squelch firstly.

And I believe that you need to do this adjustment for both upper and lower bands.

I've had my D868UV for about a week now and so far I love it! No issues whatsoever with any of the previously mentioned issues I read about in this discussion thread.

I'm running firmware 2.29. My radio is a v1.10 (GPS hardware). Longevity from the 3100mAh battery is
awesome, I've gone three days plus between charges. And that's using it to talk 10 minutes a day on the local repeaters (GPS off, as it's not needed).

I purchased mine from Premier01.com D868UV-Spec which is for the v1.10 GPS version and included a nice dual-band 14" whip antenna (Nagoya brand).

What sold me on this radio versus the competition (MD-2017 was a close 2nd) is the product support, 3100 mAh battery and extra antenna, and that it can hold all of the current DMR users in the database. It will scan DMR and Analog channels in a scanlist, and even has a 'Promiscuous' mode that is basically a setting to pass unencrypted voice with any color code, any talkgroup and either slot. Dual receive, UHF/UHF, VHF/UHF, etc. In the VFO, you can select analog or DMR, the color code, Time Slot and TalkGroup. Then save it in a memory right from the VFO. No more having to hook it up to a PC, edit a codeplug, and reprogram the radio just to add a repeater. All FPP!

I even have a custom startup image on the nice color screen.

Pretty slick little radio!

Chris,

A couple of version ago I used a startup image too. At that time the image aspect ratio changed and was flattened a little. I think I can fix that by stretching it vertically, but I have to get out the big boy editing software (Corel). It on another computer I don't use much.

Did the current version of the CPS/FW flatten your jpg?

My first experience was with 1.27/2.27 software. I had to tweak my image to get it to look right.
I use Microsoft Paint. You can edit jpeg/jpg files by cropping and resizing.

The CPS will resize (make smaller to fit) the image, so using Paint first you can get the aspect ratio close enough by trial and error and eventually get the final result you are looking for. That's how I went about it.

Thanks for information. I thought I had tried that and while the picture looked different in Paint, on the radio screen it looked like the original vertically shorted. My thoughts are that edit changes are stored with the original picture data without changing the original data. The CPS/FW sees the original data but not the edit changes.

I’m likely overthinking this and made a mistake. Not the first time... :D
