Highest quality products ?

What a joke

The AR-DV1 and AR-DV10 are riddled with faults and they refuse to acknowledge any defects. AOR's glory days are long gone. I will continue to use my AR-5000, AR-8600 and AR-8200D as these receivers had decent engineering not like the crap they release now.

You walk into a McDonalds and see a big mack at $13.00 there just comes a time you never go back.
AOR is doing the same, cheaper stuff at higher prices, they are pricing themselves out of business.
There is no longer a Denny's where I live for the very same reason.

The DV-10 is garbage. I returned mine. My 5700D and DV-1 have some quirks but are definitely not crap. Commercial and government customers are AOR's bread and butter. They could care less what hobbyist consumers think or say. This is a shame. I would think very hard before buying any new AOR equipment.

You are very right. I was told by an AOR Manager years ago that the Company was not interested at all in hobbyist customers. However this latest release from AOR is in my opinion a clear admission of desperation regarding their sales, in an attempt to court the hobbyist at last, and claw in some needed cash quickly.

I decided never to buy another AOR product some time ago, so no 5700 for me, especially after AOR's decision to force a return to Japan for firmware updates. I agree the DV1 is not perfect, but a very good receiver neverthe less.

Not that I like being proved right, but I predicted and warned them in many Forum posts about this future customer reaction re. sales when AOR decided to 'bluff out' the problems with the DV10. A great shame.

I know zero about other AOR receivers! but I did have a AOR 5000 and it was
really a good receiver more so on VHF/UHF/SAT than HF but I should have held on
to it...73,s good monitoring ..Marcy

I recently had to have the LCD replaced of a little over 1 year old DV10. That’s the second one that had to be sent out for repair. Also, both had their rotary dial knob fixed(paid for it) those clips that hold the knob are super fragile.

The serious defects were covered by warranty, but the quality of their products is debatable.

What were the problems with DV-10 displays?

Has AOR abandoned or given up on DV1 updates. I bought the DV1 a few years ago and haven't seen any updates.
As far as I know AOR programming is no longer done in house, so any updates would have to be paid for by AOR... Now since they do not acknowledge any problems with the DV1 - or any other product they sell, I can't see it happening anytime soon...
