• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I did not get to go this year, but some co-workers did, hope they are enjoying this. and thank you for sharing pictures, as the people that went this year were all firefighters. No technical staff went to APCO 2022....pinging on the travel budget for both APCO and IWCE next year.

Nice to see the old cars and radio gear.

My grandmother had a 1969 or 1970 2 door nova with the 350. That thing would scream.

---and she only drove it to church on Sundays, right? My aunt bought a '69 two door after she put water in the crankcase of her '55 Chevy, drove it and ruined the engine. (my dad was ticked off at her for that) Didn't have the 350 though but had the 250c.i. 6cyl. I drove it and was fairly impressed with it's "get up and go" ability. I've always wanted to test out the platform with the 350 but never had the opportunity. I understand that a few were equipped with a 396 and some made their way to be Yenko conversions.

I know people in the biz that get to go. Just once I would love to be able to check out the show.

As a SoCal native the LASO stuff is pretty cool. You can see the evidence of heavy UHF usage in LA County by the crazy farm of UHF 5/8 wave whips on that MCU.
I wonder if that's the same Nova Jay Leno featured on his YouTube channel?

Pretty cool stuff. Thanks for sharing!

Of course you are basing that on her word because you would never drive that fast...

Never.
My friend in High school had one, but it only had the 307. It scooted pretty well when we were young and/or dumb. Cheap tires, so often going sideways or at least fishtailing. I seem to remember him having a radio shack CB in it, too.

Since we're off topic anyway....

My first hot rod I built was a 75 Nova two-door. Dropped in a 331 (327 30 over), PowerGlide and a Ford 9-inch reared with 6.55 gears.

74' Dodge Monaco here w/four barrel carb and I forget what massive muscle V8 engine (think PD cruiser). It was not something a person in their early 20's should have had. I added whatever fun loving tires that could hold the street and it is the first and last time I ever went 147 MPH on the road. Glad I sold it and live to tell the tale.

….I should have never googled IWCE. Now to figure out how to ask our director to send me next year. I only deal with the technology side of our 911 center so maybe I can convince him. 🤣

IWCE is good, but if you are running a PSAP/ECC you should be going to APCO. APCO will be in Nashville next year, and maybe easier for you to get your travel approved. APCO has had a larger show the last few years. IWCE hasn't fully recovered from the pandemic and was slightly anemic the last 1.5 years.
You can also usually get "expo floor only" access for free from some vendors.
