Yes, for the PRO-96 and PRO-2096, in order to program a P25 trunking system you program in Motorola mode as you would for a Motorola system. The scanner will automatically detect what kind of system it is (Motorola or P25) and follow it accordingly.

But also remember that P-25 does not always equate to a Motorola trunking system. There are P-25 conventional non trunked systems in use, including public safety, federal government, and VHF and UHF amateur radio repeaters. These would be programmed as "FM" for the mode on a PRO-96.

Non trunked digital on the 96 must be programmed as FM. I had a system that was conventional (NPS in Yorktown) that switched to digital. I had the conventional set for CT (see the CTSS tones), until I realized what had happend, I got nothing but a buzz when the park rangers transmitted from a digital radio.

Some lower band (VHF and UHF) trunked systems (see the Langley AFB system [http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&aid=2182] as an example) require you to program the table (base and offset) as well. Much easier to do that with software than try to follow the instructions.
