• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello. Newbie here. Just promoted to a new position and now am responsible for about 400 portable and mobile radios. Before the previous guy left he purchase about 45 APX 6000 radios. Before that we have used mostly XT 2500 portables and maybe about 30 APX 4000 radios. I was familiar with cloning radios and could do that and then add them to the system using Provisioning Manager. Problem I have now is trying to get the 6000 to work. I have programmed one of the new 6000 by setting it up by looking at a 4000 codeplug and setting everything the same in the 6000 codeplug. Added radio in PM and 6000 can receive but when push PTT button only get an alert tone, not able to transmit. What am I missing? Any thoughts would be helpful.

If you have access to PM, you should also have access to tools that will show you exactly what happened when you pushed the PTT button.

That's assuming the radio is actually seeing the system. Some people turn off all OOR indicators so you don't know if you're out of range.

But yes, ATIA data and a parser might give you an idea of what's happening if it is actually seeing the system.

I feel the OP's pain, I was voluntold I was the new SysAdmin. He should be able to see the radio. If it's affiliated and receiving, I wonder if it's set to RX only on that TG.

You are in deep water. (Trunking, APX programming, Provisioning Mgr, etc)

A hobby site is not the right place to throw a lifeline. Find a reputable shop/admin to help mentor you on this one. (I am not telling you this to be a d!ck. I am telling you this as someone who deals with APX programming and trunked systems)
