• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm programming APX 6000 radios using CPS Version 22.00.01. I want to program the two side buttons below the PTT button. When I pull up CPS buttons in the menu and the option to add the function of zone up and zone down is marked red. What am I missing, I know I have something clicked/activated somewhere else that is preventing me from making this function available. I do have zone up and zone down listed in the menu, but even when I take it out the option is still not avaliable. What am I missing? I'd like to get these radios inline with the EF Johnson radios we are using. Trying to keep the radio buttons all inline. Thank you for any help.

Check your ABC switch or other button switch. You are correct. The radio will not accept the function if radio has function programmed in another location.
I found the problem...I changed the conventional side to zone up and zone down. Once I did that it made the buttons work on the trunking side in the same manner. Still learning all the little intricacies of CPS. Thanks for your help.

Are these AN or BN model 6000's? And do they have Enhancement Level 2 in the flash? Aside from the menu items, is anything else assigned to a Zone function, such as the ABC switch?

I see that you edited your post as I was typing mine. Yes, some functions need to match conventional vs trunking in order to be valid selections.

I appreciate the response, I'm sure the more I work with CPS the more I will probably post questions. I use the Armada software for EFJ radios daily, but we have received some M radios and am working on learning CPS. Thanks again for your response.
