• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Starting off, I would like to first start by saying the radio is NOT inhibited. Confirmed this with the system admin.

Radio is an APX8000, R29 Firmware, Codeplug V32.

Has anyone heard of this happening in a bootloop before? If so whats the best option to solve this? Sending it back to depot?

Give it to the System Administrator as he would have the proper System Keys and software to update and program the radio properly.

Was the radio recently programmed? The recent well known bootloop issue was officially recognized as being a problem with firmware version 31, often not occurring until it happens, which this radio does not have so makes it more unusual but not totally unheard of that a radio of any age or version would develop an issue, things happen. Maybe it has something to do with a corrupted codeplug if a hardware issue is not at play. The bootloop issue is typically something a regular end user would not be able to fix on their own requiring depot servicing.

We have some radios which had the firmware referenced above installed, and a month later they went into endless loop.
It's possible they were upgraded, and not used or turned on for that time period.
As said above, it must be sent to depot for resolution, there is a bulletin about it

About to send in a BN 6000 that was out of warranty when it started boot looping under the MTN. Hopefully it will be covered. Officer was out on maternity leave and radio was off for the past 6 months. She took it out of the charger and bam- "Motorola Solutions" endless cycle. Per our records it was at R29 when it was last used.

MTN-0149A-23 addresses a power cycling bug.

"APX radios that have 2023.2 Firmware / R31.xx.xx (R31.00.00 thru R31.02.00) may enter a continuous power cycling condition. This affects APX series P25 radios, N30, and N50. Next series and N70 are not affected. Radios affected by this issue must be sent to Motorola Depot for repair referencing the MTN."

Not your reported FW but pretty close.
