• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

The HARRI$ AN/PRC-152(C) had multiple mission plan file capability back in 2005. Those could have 30+ mission plans depending on the size of each mission plan file.
As well as the XG-100P Unity handheld.....multiple mission plans were great.

I have to admit, mission plans were a great idea. I've got 10 loaded into my XL200P. That's the limit.
I did this to evaluate how or if the radio's functions slow down with the memory getting full with more plans loaded.

In terms of quick response to inputs, the APX makes a fool of the XL. It can take over six seconds for a control input on an XL to be completed. How that's even acceptable for any critical duty is beyond me.

+1 on R35 being stable as found so far. Had to upgrade for a new APX8000XE being programmed for a test with an Aero Connect RT-7000 (with APX8000 module). Had to have several systems and 126 analog channels VHF/UHF R1/UHF R2/7/800 Mhz loaded for testing for interference with other hardware.

Codeplug was stable, and worked well on Del running Win10 Pro at least. 3 codeplugs in my use case.

Read Post #2 of this thread:

And now the fine print:
  • It's going to cost you at least $138 to add the feature to the FLASH, assuming the radio is supported
  • Only BN "Enhanced" or 8x00 models are supported (as well as NEXT/N series); not supported on legacy AN or 7x00 models
  • Requires a model 2.5 or 3.5 portable, not supported on 1.5 models

You gotta purchase it from Motorola. It is not a free option.

I saw the post, but didn't explain where to go to get the feature added. I don't have an issue paying but finding a dealer is the problem, and good thing the radio isn't bought "FB Marketplace or Ebay."

Nobody here really has an answer for this, so they'll just hit you with the snark instead.

In this case it's multiple 'codeplugs' for the APX8000. Mission plans are a carry over from the L3H RF Division, tactical radio side of the house, from which the XG-100P originated. The same terminology was carried over as a result and is still being used with the current line of XL radios.

Military operations tend to be dynamic and radio programming may require different configurations for each specific mission. So for added flexibility many of the L3H tactical radios had the ability to have multiple 'mission plans' stored in the radio.
