To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I cant seem to get RM to fully read my radio. It does the auto read, where it pulls the serial in, radio beeps on/off, and all is normal.. but it never gets past that state, never pulls in the radio data. Device monitor connects just fine, DB is up and running, no issues there. I gave the machine permissions as programmer and processor in RM Server Utility. Everything looks to be setup properly, I just cant get past this state... and if I look at the status of the "read" it says its running... but it says that for hours and nothing happens... any ideas?

All it ever says is "Waiting for Job Processor..." In this limbo state, no options are available to me... the only thing I can do is stop the process and start it all over again.

thanks

Chris

When you installed RM on your PC you install all the different applications ? Also did you setup the devices in the server configuration ? Assume this is jsut on a PC and not a full fledged server ?

Is RM version the same as the Codeplug? Both R27 Or R28?

So yes, I installed everything together and the installation went smooth. I am not sure I set up the devices in the server config.. as that does not ring a bell. Yes, all installed on a single PC.
Thanks!

Check to make sure the job processor is up and running (in MOTOTRBO, it is the Orange Blender Icon). Also, if your version is older than the radio, you will see this behavior. Your Device programmer is pointed to the correct RM server, right? TT

yesterday the job processor was up and running but let me look at the version numbers. They are all R28 but there may be a delta between version 01 and 03 on them.

If you have multiple servers for multiple job processors they all need to be at 28 if thats what you upgraded the main to.
I just have this one server. This is my first venture into RM so I am sure its a config issue somewhere...

As long as RM is a newer version than radio should be good. Appears his RM is 28.00.01 as can be seen in the screen shot. 28.00.03 came out this week but not for RM.
What if RM is the same version as the radio, will this be an issue?

RM and radio can be same version. There is a procedure to load the server and configure. Not knowing what you did its hard to diagnose. I assume you are reading the radio on the same PC as the server.

Your screen capture is correct. Under Options you have APX checked for allow auto add and auto read ?

Also make sure firewall is off. Or make sure the ports are opened for Job Server and RM. I find it easier to shut off firewall and make work then clean up firewall.

Also check settings under Device Monitor. Make sure when you hit test button you get connection successful. My guess is you wont. Also check USB and WAN if using that.

if it's reading the radio but not finishing the job then it's the job processor. You can always re-install the version and it shouldn't kill your database. you can back it up anyway just to make sure.

yes, firewall Is off and when I test the connection under Device Monitor, it is successful. It auto-reads initially when I launch RM to only get the radio serial number, then the “read job” just tends to hang in that state and not do anything.

I will just delete everything and reinstall. It is reading the radio, but as you stated, the job processor seems to be the culprit.

will report back after install.
Thanks

R28.00.03 is out. See the attachment. Seems a lot of the updates is RM related. Maybe that will help you.

So I deleted my R28.00.01 CPS & RM installation (which were installed at different times). I then reinstalled R28.00.03 Suite (RM, CPS, etc.) all together. My RM now reads the radio successfully without issue. :) Job Processor runs, and completes after about 10 seconds and populates all the fields.

It may have been related to the fact that they were installed separately.... but now they are working! thanks for you assistance & insight.
