• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all, I have an APX7k with a HMN4104B microphone that is giving me no audio. The microphone and screen are working flawlessly. I just have no audio coming out. Any help is appreciated

Have you tried the mic on a different radio? That would tell you pretty quickly if you have a bad mic, or something is wrong with the radio itself. Is it just the RX audio that's not coming through the mic? What about TX audio, is that making it through?

Yes, tried it on multiple radios the mic is functional only RX audio isn't making it through. TX audio is all good!

So the mic is partially functional. It displays the same behavior on any other radio you connect it to: no RX audio, good TX audio?

Try replacing the mic cord if that's an option for that model, otherwise it may be time for a new RSM.

No, the mic is fully functional on another APX. I was wondering if I was missing something in CPS

Gotcha. It could be something in the codeplug, or it could be a physical issue with the radio that is not sending audio to the mic through the accessory connector. Have you tried a different mic on the same radio, and does it behave the same way? I'm going to assume that with the mic detached, the audio comes through the internal speaker just fine?

Depending on how you set up the code plug, you may have to try turning the volume up with the rocker on the RSM. There is a checkbox to disable the radio’s volume and channel controls when an advanced RSM is attached.

Yes, every mic I've connected does the same thing. And yessir the audio comes thru 5x5

what would be wrong in the codeplug....some typical places to look

Check the setting @ResQguy mentioned, it's called Volume Lock with Acc or something like that, under Radio Ergonomics Wide. I assume that you have already tried both the radio's volume knob as well as the RSM's volume rocker, with no success. Are you getting any audio out of the RSM, such as power up beep, scan on/off tones, etc.? Or absolutely nothing at all?

Nothing at all, even with both of those settings checked.

How does the condition of the pads on the accessory connector look? Do they appear damaged at all?

Did you get the radio from a dealer? If so, it might need to be sent out for repairs because it sounds like it might be an issue with the connector itself.

Make sure in the Zone config that the profile isn't set to surveillance 1. That will kill a speaker mic if attached. Been there done that....use default or if they have to have a quiet mode with no lights and tones use surveillance 2 it won't kill the RSM audio.

take the codeplug from a known good radio and clone it to yours. You know the mic works when connecting it to a different radio. I am assuming the other radios are programmed the same. If not, save your codeplug and write theirs to your radio temporarily and then check the mic again. If it works, it's a codeplug issue, if it doesn't, it's a radio hardware issue.

Update: Radio came from a Fleabay vendor, (not my radio) had to go out to M to get fixed. FUBAR inside PCB board had water damage and ribion connectors were a mess. Thanks all!
