You must be talking about the SMFD dispatch, TG 1786? Yes, that is computerized. All other agencies are actual breathing people.

Check it out better than 1-900 anyday and cheaper!

If it frees up a complete FTE then yes baby it's cost effective.

Plus i'm sure that the call taking isn't even close to complete when the call is going out. A human would probably read the call, digest it, then begin to initiate the fire station alerting sequence. The computer is programmed to instantaneously read the information, so that time that it takes for a human to digest the call information is gone and the response time is potentially a few seconds faster. Every second counts - especially when it comes to medical calls.

Exactly one of the main reason's they left Douglas County and formed there own dispatch center, custom response and dispatching to fire and ems calls was needed and not being provided by the sheriffs dispatchers.

Now if they could just get more departments to join and split the costs the dispatch center could hold about 4 or 5 more consoles.

They track the Parker FD units on GPS and CAD already so think that's the beginning and here the discussions with Littleton FD continue as well.
