A friend of mine has a Whistler WS1065. He asked me to program his new scanner. I'm getting one also. I installed ARC 500, the latest version and installed it on my computer. Never used this software before. When I open up the software I get the message, software expired, please register this software or uninstall off computer. Uploading and saving data is now disabled. Click yes to purchase the software. I'm wanting to evaluate this software before i purchase it and I thought there was a free 30 day period with this software. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

The software does have a free trial period. But there is something on your PC that appears (to the software) to be connected to a previous installation and a now expired 'free trial period'. Have you previously tried the software, but decided not to purchase at that time? Or, was your PC purchased used, and perhaps the previous owner had tried the software?

While I don't know exactly what Butel (publisher of the ARC software) uses. it could be a setting that was written to the registry of the PC, or perhaps some sort of read only file saved somewhere that a new installation would find it.

Note that, as long as there have been no previous 'free trial period' installations, both Win500 PSREdit500 also have a free trial, evaluation, period.

Have you installed ARC500 before? When you install it the first time, you should get a message that it is a limited time demo. Where did you download the software? What is your city. oounty, and state and which systems and agencies would you like to monitor?

This was installed yesterday but I got the same message so I uninstalled it. Installed WIN500 instead. But before I purchase any software I wanted to see which one I liked.

I used to have a TRX 2. It quit working several months ago but I still have the ez scan software on the computer. I wouldn't think this would create an issue. As for the computer, it's a Windows 10 computer that I built myself so no one has ever had it to install anything on it.

The Win500 worked fine in getting frequencies onto my friend's scanner, but once I get my own WS1065, I want to purchase software and want to check each one out. I saw somewhere where support for WIN500 is non-existent, so that's the reason to check out the others

By the way I liked the ez scan software when I had a working TRX 2. Too bad that doesn't work with other whistlers

I would avoid Win500. I use ARC500 Basic to do my programming. PSREdit500 is also excellent. Those three are the only choices you have.

Based on what I'm seeing I like the layout of PSREdit500. So I'm going to take a close look at that program. I installed it and it installed nicely without any issues

Dont use that link! It is not an official ARC500 download link and most likely installs 'other' software with it. Beside that the latest version is 2.5.

If you get this message you previously installed and ran ARC500 before on your PC.

Yea my antivirus didn't seem to like it and you're right it did want to install other software. Ran a full antivirus scan afterwards. I have everything arc 500 off of my computer. Pretty much done with it. I'm looking at the PSREdit500and will probably purchase that after the trial period. Thanks for the input

having issues programming and saving both conventional and trunk systems and scan lists ? any help
If you are using ARC500, you will not be able to receive the Rockland County Public Safety trunked system with your scanner. The Rockland County system is P25 Phase 2. Scanners which use ARC500 software are capable of decoding P25 Phase 1 only. That has nothing to do with ARC500. Scanners of that design cannot decode P25 Phase 2 using any software. If you look in the Mode column, the "T",means P25 Phase 2. "TE" is P25 Phase 2 fully encrypted which no scanner can receive. Your scanner can only receive talkgroups with "D" in the Mode column which means P25 Phase 1. Rockland County Public Safety Communications System (RCPSCS) Trunking System, Rockland County, New York

If you downloaded the 1.1 version, ARC isn't the problem. I use several of their programs with no problems and like the consistency of the layout.

Did you run the "free" version in ADMIN mode? I got the same message for my BCT-15 software from Butel and finally read the small print and viola! got it to working.

Gommert, I love your software and as soon as my SS and retirement comes this month (or next?) I'm going to purchase the software. I all ready have it for my two 996's (T and P2).
