ARC396 should work with Vista. Just make sure you run as "Admin" (right click icon, go to properties and select to always run as administrator) if it gives you fits. Another tip is to install in a separate folder than C:\Program Files, put it into C:\Butel or something. Installing under the "Program Files" directory under Vista doesn't behave well with some older programs.

Anyone have any word on the ARC Vista drivers?

just follow the directions on the Butel site and they work fine OR just make sure the account you are using has administrator rights.

are you having trouble with a USB-Serial adapter driver instead?

Yeah it's the USB cable I need a driver for.

try the manufacture first...
if it's a Prolific chip, they do not make drivers for Vista. see: http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID=31

I did find some for that chipset, but not sure if they work...

If you're running Vista 64bit, just give up and get this adapter or one with a FTDI chip (what I did):

they sell a 12" as well. www.usbmax.com, www.usbgear.com, www.serialgear.com ect are all the same, only the shipping is different. I got mine from www.usbmax.com but the drivers CD has www.usbgear.com on it. it works great though.
