I just bought a new Uniden BCT15X and the ARCXT programing software. I began programming my scanner now and something really bad happened......I was buiding the whole database I needed, took at least 3 hours so far as I go through each TGID and rename to my liking. I saved it the first time as a profile, then reopened it the next day as a profile, and it worked fine. But now as I open it again as a profile, all the newer stuff is gone. I always clicked the Save button on the toolbar, but apparently it never saved....Is there somewhere else it saves when you click the Save on the toolbar than when you click save profile in the File menu?

If anyone can please help, it would be very appreciated! This took a long time to go through! Thank you!

There are several places you need to save.
  1. 1st, the save icon only saves the open system that is showing on the right plane.
  2. If you have made changes to other systems and have not hit that button each time, them Quick Save All is the right menu. It should have warned you to do that when you shutdown.
  3. Saving the profile only sets up a list of saved systems to load. It does not save any data.
If you downloaded changes to the scanner, simply upload them and you are back in business. I have two profiles, and I found it mysteriously started loading the one that I did not put in the software setup path. Maybe that happened to you, and your changes list(profile) is in the same directory.

The ARCX has this annoying problem where you can click the save button, but not actually save everything. THEN the program will let you close down without ever telling you that you will lose data.

You have to go through a convoluted process to actually save everything. But you are never really sure until you open it again. If you don't do it correctly, the program will close without warning and you will lose data.

For this very reason, I completely swore off the ARCXT and now use Freescan. Freescan saves everything when you click the save button. The ARC 500 saves everything when you hit the save button. Every program in the last 10 years saves everything when you hit the save button OR AT LEAST warns you that you are about to lose data!!!

The first night with ARCXT I spent 3 hours programming stuff up and sure enough, lost everything.

Save will alsways save all you systems and if there is a profile loaded it will also save the profile. If you want to add data you must first load the existing systems, add the data and then save.
