• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Are there any CB Radios with CTCSS Encode and Decode in them?

They would be a great feature for two base remote stations that need to communicate within line of sight. TIA. :)

And mobile to base.

Run this up on a painters pole. Or attach to balcony. One of the links in this thread is of an operator has one at 6’ in his condo courtyard talking Skip nationally & internationally.

11M SSB is hot for the next couple of years. I hear SoCal on the Great Plains almost daily on AM.

The features of the topic make a valuable addition.

What is your comparison of the George FCC AM/FM/SSB vs RadiOddity QT60 strictly as an 11M radio? Receiver vs Receiver, Audio quality, build quality, features??

A choice for RX in Mobile

I’d be pleased to give you that comparison. If I yet owned the G2.

My intuition (so far, so good, on radios) is that the G2 is just that much better RX/TX that it’ll be worth the expense. To me.

As 11M (AM19) is constant-use I live in a different galaxy than the casual, home-from-work guy turns it on in the evening. The higher expense for those whom $ is above “value-received” aren’t — in main — going to see it the same way.

(Let’s leave aside any confusion in argument caused by Amateur gear use on 11M).

The opinions I’ve learned to trust are fairly unanimous that this is the best CB yet.

“The moment” for me came while sitting in SE New Mexico and hearing — clear as a bell — a familiar voice (YouTube contributor) from England, on AM Skip on a G2 back in early December. “I knew” what it was.

Clarity is the override, as I see it. All else the same. Adding DSP ten years ago got me my start. Till now the best mobile RX I’ve experienced has been with the Lincoln 2+. So, integrated NRC + PRESIDENT Corp savvy ought to be the ideal.

I can only recommend what’s my path as I go through written reviews and videos. Them that don’t understand what DSP/NRC uncover aren’t bringing an A-game.

— Clarity is the difference between hearing the faint distant warning versus driving on into perdition, unawares.
(The deficiencies of the other mans rig is the whole of the game).

Having said this it’s with the caveat that the mobile antenna system is without compromise. The working environment is going to be crucial given some mobile experience already operative (to distinguish between top choices).

The “best” for most is the QT60/Q5 variant. It’s what I’m currently running. A no regrets choice. FCC G2 requires an outboard amp or adding the EU-spec final to compete in TX. (Big truck required crutch). Highway use needs 5-miles plus as can be obtained in every situation. (Reaching that far isn’t the obstacle, and clarity in TX a distinct edge).

RX is the most difficult task.

If I can hear them, they can hear me is the true ideal I’ve learned is what’s worth pursuing. A mile or two isn’t at all the same thing. It’s in repeating & getting clarification on any warning or heads-up received at greatest distance.
