LOL--at first in the second picture I thought the telephone pole was the antenna's mast! My first thought: "That ain't gonna make it under any bridges!!!"
HA! Yes, you are right about that...never noticed it. Very funny!
Would love to see inside that truck.
POTUS is about to visit us here in cold dark damp snowy Ottawa in a few days.
Must be nice in Phoenix.

Do you think it is in response to POTUS visit Thursday and Friday?
Good question, looks like a radio frequency tracking vehicle.
Would like to know.
Will be fun to monitor the communications in Ottawa during the visit.
With not much to listen to in Ottawa, this gives us something to do.
I assume the latest technology will be in use though.

Keep in mind, even with the latest and greatest and encrypted, finding new systems, talkgroups or conventional frequencies, is a fun part of the hobby. I'll be interested in seeing posts on what is found. NOTE: there is also another thread on the topic of the visit in the Ottawa thread.

Yes, you are correct about finding new communications . It is enjoyable.
SDR has been a great help with this. Amazing technology.

Even the fire department went ENC here recently, don't know why.
Our provincial government is rolling out a new system that will be fully encrypted from all reports.

I have been around a long time when everything was FM and we could listen to most anything.
Certainly was fun in those days.

Yeah, even with a few SDRs running I can't image much "fun" only being able to watch TGIDs scroll by all saying (E) with no audio!

It's all part of the hunt, for many it isn't just about voice transmissions it's mapping out systems and discovering something new. Besides, you never know when an encrypted radio suddenly becomes clear, I've heard it several times.

Those Armed Forces radio trucks are still in the area.
Two went by today. They have been seen stopped along the road with another pick up truck with antennas.
