thoughts and prayers to all the people who have lost their homes and possessions. I hope this is an opportunity for county officials to move forward with much needed communications upgrades. I understand that this has been handled well since most of the responding VFDs maintain VHF radios, but out of county ambulances and law enforcement that may be needed in the future are at a disadvantage. That area of the county where the wildfire is has been a fire radio black hole for some time now, and at the very least, coverage for southeast Grimes County should improve. That is the fastest growing area.

Soapbox broke...

Rattler, they must have heard you. It appears all Grimes County fire units are working off of BVWACS FIRE-1 on TxWARN.

Grimes county is patching the old VHF Tex Fire 1 to the New TxWarn so incoming units can talk to the older system... and it's working pretty good. I hope they see the advantages they would have if they were on the TxWarn system now, but some radio tech really has helped them out in this situation.

Yeah. It was probably a very, very complex operation to get those linked up, especially in such a hurry.
