Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey guys,

I have an astro saber that the remote speaker mic has crapped out on.... I have some jedi speaker mics laying around and decided to mate a jedi mic on a saber speaker mic cord... after figuring out what color wires go where in the RJ45, I can key the radio, and receive traffic perfectly but I can not pass audio through the mic and into the radio. The radio will just key up. Can anybody help me out on this one? Im not about to use up all my RJ connectors trying to get it right.......

looking at the RJ45 connector with the end facing away from you and the tab pointed down and going from left to right this is what I have....

red, blue, open, white, open, green, open, black.

on the saber the colors are:

BLUE: SPKR COMM
BLK: EXT SPKR
RED: EXT MIC
GRN: OPT SEL 1
WHITE: GND

any help would be greatly appreciated...

thanks in advance.

I cant recall the model number but I know that I can take a speaker mic from one of our Saber R's and put it on there and it will work perfectly Im pretty sure that its for a regular saber... It has an orange wire that doesnt go to any pins on the connector. I dunno... Like I said I can key the radio and receive fine I just cant pass audio through the mic, and into the radio.... I know its not the microphone itself cause I swapped it out for a new one still in the box.. Its probably just a crossed wire but Im not going to use up all the connectors trying to figure it out. and Ive tried to find information on the net for pinouts and schematics with no luck...

Jedi FYI

i do not know much about the saber series stuff but i do have some experience
with the jedi series.

the jedi speaker mic has electronics in the mating plug on the radio end and
if you cut that off and connected to a saber mating plug i am guessing that
either the electronics is different or the saber plug has none.

you might find more info on the batlabs web site.
