If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am wanting/trying to program my AS to monitor Texas DPS' P25 system. So far with everything I have tried I have had no luck getting it to work.

Radio:
Model # H04KDF9PW7AN
Flash Code: 100004-000000-4
I am using CPS 5.03

System I am wanting to listen to: Department of Public Safety (DPS) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference (region 5)

I have gotten it to work with local ham repeaters (non p25), I am just not sure what I am doing with p25.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

do you have the right NAC programmed? The Astro saber decodes as a P25 capable radio so it should work.

I tried the NAC listed in the database. I also have tried f73. I also have it set to digital CSQ. Do i need to have it on C4FM, wide, or the other one (cant think of it off the top of my head)?

Leave the modulation on the default. Also check the NAC as mentioned above, however if you're really running it in DCSQ then the NAC is irrelevant.

Ok, Thanks. I deleted all of my ham stuff from the radio and it started working.... SO, is it not possible to have both analog and digital in the radio? or is it that i need to have the p25 stuff programmed as the first thing in the radio?

The different personalities are independent so you can have a mixture of analog and digital channels. For the digital channels ensure that the RX type is set to ASTRO or Mixed Mode and digital CSQ. This way the NAC setting is irrelevant. Default modulation type should be fine. Make sure that any ASTRO Talkgroups settings are disabled.

In the Zone screen make sure you are assigning the Zone/Channel to the proper personality. It's easy to confuse them if you are not careful. I make it easy and assign personalities 1-16 to Zone 1 channels1-16, personalities 17-32 to Zone 2 channel 1-16 and so on.

Be sure to enable the RX only box to ensure that you are not transmitting on channels you are not authorized on.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

If your site is simulcast you should set CQPSK, C4FM is for single sites. CQPSK will work on both types.
