• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I updated my Anytone to current firmware last night/overnight.

I see it now has RC4 capabilities along with AES256.

Both RC4 and AES256 work with my XPR7550e on Simplex. Transmit audio is decent, receive audio is decent. It's easily as loud as my XPR7550e on receive.

An interesting discovery is that neither the RC4 nor AES256 keys are stored in the codeplug when you save it to your computer. Also, when you read a key loaded radio, the keys are not read out into the CPS.

This little Anytone keep surprising me. I'm definitely not a 'power' user of the radio, I've got lots of learning to do, especially with the setting page of the radio. I do however quite like it. While it definitely is not a Tait, Motorola or Kenwood, it's not a terrible radio. I'm definitely glad I didn't buy a TYT/Baoturd/BTech or some other junk.

Now I just need to locate my Kenwood speaker mic, and see if it will pick up the pulsing TDMA or not.

Speaking of speaker mics, has anyone tested Kenwoods 2 pin offerings on DMR? For what I'm into this radio for, I'd be willing to spend upwards of $130 shipped, for a quality DMR compatible speakermic.

kayn1n32008,

I just purchased two speaker mics from BridgeCom Systems for Christmas. I don't know how I got the long deal [$16 each] but I am quite impressed. Audio reports are very complimentary. I bought 2, one for me and one for my wife's 878uv. Regrettably, the sale is now over and the price is $29.95 each. For that price, you could afford to buy both the Kenwood and the BridgeCom unit and try them out on PARROT. Sell the one you don't like; you know that there will be a market here on RR for either one. Hope this helps. Vry 73 de Me
