Anyone know where I can get a web player code to embed on my site like RR's webplayer's?

I want to broadcast my feed direct from my computer without RR.

What are you trying to say?

You want to host your own feed (your own server) and not through RR and trying to find a webplayer code? or you want the webplayer provided by RR in your website?

You can use icecast and edcast, just remember that everyone connecting to your feed will be using up your bandwidth.

In addition to using a lot of your bandwidth, it might violate the acceptable use policy for your ISP.

I was thinking of streaming both with RR and on my own. My website is a local site for my area. But with the replies here, it dosen't sound like such a good idea to do.

It isn't necessarily a bad idea, you've just gotta be aware of what you're getting into. Make sure your ISP doesn't have restrictions about running a server on your connection and also be prepared if a bunch of people start listening directly to your live feed (ie not through RR) your connection will slow down.

C'mon... give the guy a break. He's asking a legitimate question. It's possible to support RR *and* support your own site. Commercial Icecast hosting IS available for as little as $5/month (limited users, but unlimited bandwidth). I know, because I use it for ScannerCast testing.

Soooooooooooooooo... back to the OP's original question: I am, personally, quite partial to MiniCaster -- though Flash players do not support tag display. Alternatively, you can use a Java-based web player, but that requires people install Java.

Thanks Peter. I have checked out MiniCaster but not sure how to configure it or what I need to get it working.

Thanks Peter. I have checked out MiniCaster but not sure how to configure it or what I need to get it working.

Not to turn this into the Minicaster support thread, but there's a directory with HTML documents (in the minicaster.zip archive) that describe how to use it.

In the root directory, there are two example HTML files (cleverly called example.html and example2.html) that should work on your web site exactly as they are, just edit the XML file to specify the source from which you want to stream content (use any SHOUTcast server for testing... if you don't know of one, use SHOUTcast Administrator which happens to be a random one I Googled up just 2 seconds ago).

Hope that helps,

Peter
