I have the talkgroups programmed into my Pro 97 that are in RR Database. I have the bank set to open. I still seem to not be able to receive all transmissions, ex: I monitor the control channel frequencies until I hear a conversation, then switch to scan, the conversation cannot be heard on scan but can be heard when monitoring the control channel.

Also I have discovered some new talk groups, how do I enter them into the bank I have set up?

Thanks

What system do yu have programmed in? If it's Augusta Golf Club, it's LTR and needs to programmed in LCN 01, 02, 0*, etc.. If it is the Palmetto System, you have to pick the tower site nearest you and put in all the CC's(red and blue). Of course, you have to put the scanner in the correct mode: MOT, LTR (this is done with each frequency programmed in).

HTH,
Larry

I have the Augusta National frequencies and I am having trouble receiving anything when I scan the bank. I can only receive when monitoring the home channels.

But do you have them in LCN and in LT mode? You must start with Ch 01, Ch 02, Ch 03, etc.. There are no CC's for LTR. You cannot program LTR starting with the first channel in the bank. It will not track unless it is programmed this way. Augusta has two CC's. That needs to be programmed in a separate bank in MO mode. Augusta is analog, so you won't have a problem listening to them. To save the TG's push the trunk button to save it into the bank.

I've been trying for months, but the only time I heard anything I was just across the street from the Club.

I live 9.5 Miles from the Clubhouse. From home all I get is an occasional TGID, and half the time the ones I log are invalid. If I scan in conventional mode, I can pick up a little very low volume and scratchy bits and pieces of talking.

This is what I have found so far the frequencies must be entered in the proper channel location in order to receive the transmissions.

463.8125 Ch 01
461.7875 Ch 07
462.0375 Ch 11
462.0125 Ch 19

That helps a lot. Today I can pick up talking on:

0-01-001
0-01-005
0-19-105

Because of my location, the reception is weak and noisy but I can understand most of the conversation. :(

Out of curiosity, what was the rationale for Augusta/Richmond County, Georgia ending up going onto South Carolina's state-wide system?

Money, or lack thereof. There is Augusta and North Augusta in SC. Drive across the bridge over the Savannah River, not much difference in how they look. More old money in Augusta, GA though. I have a buddy who grew up there, he could probably answer better than I.

I'm not sure when the City of Augusta started using the SCANA (A SC Utility) System, but probably because the Main Towers were already in place and in use.

All I know is, when Augusta and Richmond County consolidated, the City Government was already on what is now the Palmetto 800. When the Sheriff absorbed the old City Police Department, it was financial common sense to use the 800 system assets since the rest of the government was using it.
