Residents of a townhome complex in Aurora were roused early this morning by a garage fire.
Forty firefighters responded to the Dam East Homes on E. Bethany Place near Parker and I-225, shortly after 5 a.m. Flames could be seen from a mile away, according to Aurora Fire Capt. Mike Ackerman.
He said the fire appears to have been centered in or around a two-car garage on the backside of the town home.
Eight townhome units were threatened, and the fire spread into one unit.
Six residents will not be able to return home until repairs are made. Ackerman said they will stay with relatives.
Arson investigators are at the scene, trying to determine how the fire started.
