• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

AURORA - A man died after crashing into the Sand Creek Spillway early Sunday morning.

Aurora Police responded to 30th Avenue and Wheeling Street around 6:45 a.m. and found 28-year-old Richard Alan Cress inside a crashed Toyota Tundra pickup truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Cress and a driver in an unidentified vehicle were heading west on 30th Avenue and as they headed into a traffic circle, Cress' Toyota hit the curb.

That sent the pickup off the road and it crashed first into a sign and then into a tree. The pickup came to rest in the spillway.

Police say the second vehicle also went off the road and hit a pedestrian guardrail before leaving the scene.

Investigators say they are not sure if the cars were racing or if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

Any witnesses are asked to call the Aurora Police.
