Uh oh, sounds like someone has a good one

I keep them turned off anyway, too silly a distraction for me...

Couldn't find it in FAQ , but a 2006 post explained why animated ones are not permitted.

How come it used to work but now it doesn't ?

It doesn't work because a new option was implemented in Vbulletin which allows us disallow new ones from being uploaded. Many here absued the "feature" with distracting inappropriate avatars.

It shows you what an impact 1% of a community can have on the majority.

As long as it's not offensive and/or does not contain inappropriate material, plus is from a publicly available source if it isn't yours, is acceptable.

Folks,

I know what is driving this - and I'm warning all three of these users:

rdale
phil_smith
peterjmag

I won't have a subtle pissing contest occuring on these forums - either by choice of avatar or subtle negative and attack postings.

All three of you - please follow the spirit of these forums outlined here:

http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3632

If the spirit is not maintained, the next step will be to start setting three individuals to non-posting status. I realize that there are egos, knowledge, percieved ownership, and other factors here, but I think it's time this "issue" stops.

For guys it's called "BASE" ;>

And for the record, Phil was denied permission to use that copyrighted image. He states that until RadioReference and he are served with legal papers, he will keep it. Interesting philosophy!

Gosh, being in the public eye like you are, Rob, I would think that your employer would want you to take a higher road than this.

The quicker you leave them alone, the quicker they will get bored with you and let it all die down.

I'm going to close this. I think Lindsay has spoken and there is no need to go any further here.
