AWIN Question

OK, I have once again succeeded in confusing myself. On AWIN, If I have all of the Control Channels in the system programmed into my scanner and the talkgroups of the agencies I want to scan loaded will I hear the agency anywhere in the state? What I mean is can I scan Fort Smith PD or Troop H when I am in Little Rock?

if there is a valid radio listening to one of those TG on the same tower you are monitoring you will. if no valid radios are affiliated with a particular TG on a tower, that TG audio is not routed to it to save on system wide resources.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am looking at purchasing a GRE PSR-500. When you program this scanner, can you load all of the Control Channels for a particular talkgroup or do you have to program all of the talkgroups for a particular Control Channel? In other words, If say I wanted to monitor Fort Smith PD. Would I program the talkgroup and all of the Control Channels that it might appear on (so I can select just that agency) or am I forced to listen to every talkgroup on the Control Channel in hopes of hearing Fort Smith.

i don't scan(sacrilege to admit here!) but my understanding is you can download the data from the database above, then choose which TG you wish to listen to. the CC just spits out data saying basically "all units wishing to hear TG XXXXXX goto rf chan XX", if your scanner or radio is set to ignore that tg you just keep listening to the CC.
