here is my dilemma: I live about 20-30 miles away from where alot of the action is. I still get plenty of signals, but not the police in two of the bigger cities I live near. One is on 154-155 freqs the other is 800 trunked. I should add there are some mountains in the way...yet I still get some signals from "the other side".

So, I was going to pick up the pro 2055 but after reading of some of the problems, I may just get the pro 97. With all things being equal, do you feel that reception should be as good on the handheld as it is on the base/mobil....whatever the pro 2055 is?

Keeping in mind my geographic location, I wanted to know what you thought. I ask partially because I have a pro 2050 with the original antenna and it pulls in signals that I cannot get on the pro 95-and that has a $50 antenna from scanner world attached.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

An outdoor mounted Antenna is the best solution and then it should solve your problem in
receivng signals and regardless what Radio you use if you dont have a god antenna they will not pull signals in and as for that I got the latest ICOM-R9500 and without a good antenna it will not receive anything and thats an expensive Radio and a lot of People do not realise they spend money on a good Radio but they fall short on buying a good Antenna.
