• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I see that my simple post, has drawn a major response. All I asked is if someone will be at Dayton 2011 to accomplish this. If someone inferred a exchange of anything for this whether true or not is up to them.

Maybe I should have run a classified ad in the local Dayton paper. This is why someone like myself along with many others will never post to these boards again. I can only say that it is your loss, and its time for me to move on.

Don't be too thin skinned, I agree people on these boards see boogeymen behind any posts about Lab software or flashing and the like. (The reinvented Batlabs was suppose to take a more loose approach, I guess that hasn't happened yet) Your post was shut down for none of those reasons, or all of them listed by the admin. I suggest you rephrase your post some thing like "looking for XXX expert to do repairs and reprogramming at Dayton" that would get you less of a over reaction . All these boards are running scared, and I don't know why, if the information is in the wild, there isn't much Motorola can do unless you are selling the radio as new.
I have had my issues with Batlabs before, they are not what the original founders were, true hackers and not afraid to share information. Better to handle these sensitive issues by private e-mail, if the board prohibits it on their PM. I am sure there will be lots of people able to do what you want, but you will have to gain their confidence first before you meet in Dayton. BTW as I have stated here before, last year at Dayton I watched a new APX being blow out to all available options in about 10 min. Just be aware that after your field upgrade you never will be able to send the radio to Motorola for any repairs after that.

Thank you for your reply. I have been on the Batlabs for a number of years just under a previous name. A while back I got so mad at the petty bickering and squelching of information that I left the board. I couldn't even get my post here posted on Batlabs. I just don't understand the thinking of the moderators. I also have been at Dayton with a booth for many years. Yes I understand about the field upgrade on the radios. I am well aware of not being able to send the radios back to Motorola. And yes the radios in question are APX 7000's that need an added flash option. Take care and again thanks for the reply.

You realize that your asking in an open fourm:

"Hi, I have a new high tier radio that was not bought through offical channels, that has an invalid serial number, and I want someone at Dayton to add a flash option that costs anyone with a legit radio money to do it - for me"

People with those skills, good, bad or indifferent are not going to openly advertise the fact that they can do it for many obvious legal and finanical reasons. Who is to say that your not a Motorola croney looking to see if someone is stupid enough to adverstise that they can do that.

Common sense should prevail here. Thats most likely why your post wasn't approved. If you have a previous name there, use it.

Your original thread was essentially a solicitation for services as the primary topic, that's why it was closed. Just because you make a mention of Motorola radios does not deem it applicable to this forum. And the thread wasn't deleted so anyone can still PM you about the request so I don't understand why you are disgruntled; it's not like more discussion in public was needed. I'm sure if someone had those capabilities they would not publicly wave their hand about.

I am closing this as I think the reasons have been explained adequately enough.
