BC246T vs 396T memory

I currently own a 246T,but I am running out of memory space,as I have quite a few groups programmed with lots of alpha tagging.

How much more memory does the 396T have vs the 246 ?

Is there any way to free up more memory with the 246 ? I don't want to lose my alpha tagging,as it's nice to know who's talking.

396 has TONS more memory than the 246. I owned both. Actually the BR330 has more memory than the 246. The alpha tags take up memory on the 246 and don't on the 330 and 396.

In the 246, I could only get about half of the state of Arkansas counties and a few TRS. But on the 396, I can get all 75 counties public safety frequencies, PDs, FDs, SOs, etc. Also every TRS in the state including every State Police Troop.

It has LOADS of memory. Oh, and it ain't full!!!!

With the BCD996 coming out, and utilizing Multi Site Trunking, that frees up even more memory!

Thanks ! Sounds like I need ot buy a 396 then.

Are there any ways to gain any extra memory on the 246 ? I don't use any of the preset frequencies and stuff,can they be removed ?
