Hello all....I am in need of some help, or maybe even advise on something....I have the above scanner, and for the 4 or 5 years that I have had it, it has worked flawlessly, not even a bad signal.....Now, all of a sudden, one night while plugged into the car scanning, it stops working....Just powers off and that's it. Now, everytime I plug a cig plug into the back of the radio, it not only does not power up but then either blows the circut in the cig head plug or something to where that cord will no longer work in any other electronic item. Basically put, the radio stopped working one night, won't turn on and now everytime I plug in a cig adaptor it don't work and that cig cord will no longer work....Any suggestions is welcome on what I can do to get it fixed..I am hoping it can be salvaged, I love the radio and hate to see it just setting around here on the desk not working....This has been a great radio for me and am hoping to at least get a few more years out of it. If you would like, you can also email me direct at firemedic78@msn.com

Thanks and have a happy and sahe holiday,

Chris

bc780 help

Have you tried to use it in the house with a 110 volt adapter. May be only a blown fuse

Sorry, I should have added that.....I also tried using a wall adaptor without any luck....The car cords isn't just one cord....I have tried several....I even tried one from my BCT15 which was working just fine in the 15 and I took it out, plugged it into the 780xlt, no luck, then turned right around and plugged it back into the 15 and it wouldn't even power up the 15 after trying it in the 780xlt, so I am starting to think there is a issue with the circuts inside the 780xlt that is causing the power to over surge or something and immediatly blowing the AC/DC adaptors fuses....If that is the case. does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Obviously the scanner has a short and is causing the fuse to blow. Best idea is send it in to be fixed.
