bc780xlt programming cable

I've seen several posts about the programming cable for the 780xlt, in a configuation of DB9 to USB. Has anyone tried it, and does it work?

It works good. For most versatility get a USB to DB25, and also get a DB25 to DB9 adapter. A lot of commercial radios use DB25 serial connections

ARC780 doesn't work with USB converters. At least the version I have doesn't but I haven't checked to see if they issed an update or not.

Everything from V1 has worked reasonably well with the cheap USB/RS232 converter I picked up from eblag for about $12 several years ago. I remember seeing posts saying that some converters worked and some didn't so presumably the firmware differences in the converters.

The Bc780 does not have a USB port so ARC780 does not support USB. You can use a converter but that is the users risk.

It seem to work for me, I just have to choose the right com port that the USB to serial comes up with--
