Hi everybody from Italy!

After a recent Windows 10 update, I can no longer connect the scanner to my pc with ProScan in remote mode, as I always have.

For the connection I use an adapter cable from USB to serial port 232.

Selecting the COMM PORT function, even doing auto detect, the result is "check driver" and the scanner does not connect.

I checked and the cable is detected regularly, I also bought an updated cable but the problem persists.

how can i solve? the cable drivers are up to date.

I even reinstalled windows 10 from scratch but the problem persists.

thanks to whoever can help me!
Greetings
Nicola

Check your Windows Device Manager to be certain that your cable has been assigned a valid COM port.

If you are using the original Uniden USB - 1 programming cable, and it’s over 10 years old, you will need to upgrade the cable to a newer one. The new windows drivers do not work with the older cables.

A good lesson I learned about similar issues....I have an old laptop running Windows XP....perfect for programming issues with older equipment

Is the scanner in remote mode indicated by RMT on the display. If not then I think off hand, the E key needs to be pressed for 2 seconds.

Just wondering.....

Why not upgrade to Win 11?
Windows 10 is EOL, as of today.
Hardware requirements perhaps? (OP didn't give machine specs)

Not quite EOL depending on your version or build.

Thanks for your suggestions.
unfortunately the specifications of the pc on which I have proscan do not allow the upgrade to win11...

Yes, the scanner is in RMT mode. Everything worked fine before this problem.
I could always use proscan to register and remotely control the scanner.

Just another reason I stick with Windows XP. It doesn't have the Microsoft tattletale software to track what your doing and where you go. Every time you do an update all you external device connection cause you to fight to obtain new drivers.

Call me old time, but I don't have any of the problems. I always shut off the automatic update selection. This way when I turn on my computer, I know it will work the way it did the last time I used it.

I am not a gammer, so have no need for updates. I can program the radios I need except the really old Motorola ones. Those take a DOS program computer. I keep a couple of those functional for the old brick radios that seem to never fail.
