I live in the Minneapolis,MN area and my are is on all 800mhz digital p-25's
With all of this 700mhz talk im confused
My question is since everything in my area is 800hz,would they drop everything down to 700mhz in the future or just ass some 700mhz to the existing 800mhz?
Since some counties in minnesota are planning some 700mhz that are not yet a part of the minnesota ARMERS system yet i would assume those under construction may use some but not all 700mhz
Can anyone shed some knowledge on this for me?
Right now, with the new GRE scanners coming out prices on Pro-2096 and BC796D are really good.
So im deciding whether to buy another 996 of buy several 786D's
i would prefer the 796,so thats my question
thank you to feedback on this from Fridley,MN

The BCD996T will cover the 700mhz range, It is on sale for 499.99 at scannerworld

the 996 is one of the few scanners that work with the 700mhz plan, there are others but don't know what they are of the top of my head

depends, each area is different, and they may switch just to get out of the 800mhz . Here though they are staying with 800 (Indiana)

alright does the toronto police use the 700MHz frequency? torontokris?

Nope.. Canada does not give a poop about re-branding. I hear rumor of the US tryng to force border cities like Toronto - Mississauga - Hamilton and Windsor in to re-branding.. but it wont happen.. so far only Peel region has agreed (and it is not set in stone)

Toronto Police right now is in the 800mhz (mostly analog trunking)

There is rumour they are going to a pure P25 9600 baud system (which is being tested now in 860's).

There was talk of them wanting to go to 700Mhz but I dont think they have the authorization as of yet.

Hello All

Well I Have Some Info About What I Know About 700. There Is A Communications Company
Around The Area That Swaped Out Some Uhf Ltr Trunking Radio's For A While To Test The
Band. I Think It Was Split 740-720 Some Where Not Really Sure, But I Listento Them For Along Time And They Worked Great.i'll Have To Do Some More Looking And Figure It Out Again And Let Everyone Here Know. I Know They Were Using Motorola 1225's Which I Throught Was A Little Fishy, I Know They Had A Strange Band Split And Offset.
