Bcd-396t P25 Question

I be geting Bcd-396t in few days. I just have one question about the scanner. The Cities of Eugene, Springfield Oregon of p25 Uhf conventional system does scanner decode system on it own or do i have do program each freq as p25???

Just program the freq's you want to scan as a conventional system. The scanner automatically detects if it is P25 and decodes it for you.

However if you program in a freq into memory, and set the PL tone to "search", it will not decode any P-25.

Could this be because Uniden doesn't want to infringe on Motorola's "mixed mode", which will decode P-25 or have a PL tone for analog transmittions?

I have read this many times. Currently, my PL tone is set to 'search' and I have no problem decoding P-25 digital voice on my '396T.
I have asked before, but never gotten an answer as to whether this applies to digital voice or 'real' APCO 25 air exclusive (of which I have none) systems.
