BCD 996XT Programming Question

As an avid listener, I have programmed scanners for a while....migrating from the BC760 to the BC895 to the BC780 to the BC785D.... which were easy to program. But times have apparently changed based on what I have read.

What is the best way to program the new BC996XT, whereas I hope to incorporate the GPS receiver for selecting different jurisdictions as I travel - by hand or by computer program such as those offered by Scanner Master?

I'm getting my new one soon and I want to know the best way to get it operational. Thanks.

Perhaps try Freescan, if you like it, great, if not, you are not out anything.
I would also say to learn basic programming by hand, just in case.
I use ProScan for my fleet of radios. I have a remote scanner at a friends house and I can control it and monitor the audio from my house. The author was actively updating it but it has been a considerable time since the last u/d.
