Just to clarify, the BCD325P2 scanner has no frequencies in it when you buy it new. You must enter the information for each frequency and trunking system you want to monitor. You can use 3rd party software (FreeScan, ProScan, etc) and a subscription to RR to make this easier, but you are responsible for entering this information.
This is opposed to the "database scanners" like the BCD436HP, HomePatrol 2, SDS100, etc models which have an SD card that contains the entire RR frequency database for the US and Canada in them. You can just enter your current ZIP code and they will automatically load up the systems that are within receiving range of where you are. Those models come with free software that is used to update the frequency database on the scanner (and firmware updates). Those models do not require a subscription to RR for database updates.
