When programming the Hamilton county system into the BCD396XT, is the system FM or NFM?

I've noticed when listening to the system, the audio level, with the digital agc turned on, sometimes is not as loud as other traffic, I'm wondering if this might have something to do with it. Other then that, I like scanner and It's working good so far, on the system.

The system itself is considered narrowband FM (12.5kHz spacing). But, I think most scanners consider anything down to about 12kHz to be regular FM, and everything below to be NFM. Once the system migrates to 6.25kHz spacing, you can change to the NFM setting.

Is the audio quieter, across the whole system, when you have it set to FM? If so, your scanner is listening to too much bandwidth, and switching to NFM should make the audio louder, but might cause some distortion if it's clipping off the edges. I'm not sure of the specifications for that scanner.

I haven't changed the FM or NFM setting yet, It's still at what ever setting the scanner choose, but it very's on the system, some traffic comes in loud, some not so loud.
