1. When I press down on the control knob (to bring up volume adjustment), some numbers appear next to the signal strength bars. Typically, the value is 3.67 or thereabouts. What is that?

2. If I have the volume adjustment up, then press function and then press the control knob down again I get a whole new set of numbers.

This typically looks like this:

Err: ____ 8 Auto
1.54 1.67 1.75

These numbers change sometimes. On one system I monitor, it is ALWAYS 8 auto, but on others the '8" seems to move along with the voice transmittion, and the three numbers at the bottom bounce all over the place. On a P25 system I'm trying to monitor, the 8 bounces all over the place and I'm not getting any signal.

What are these numbers?

396xt question

i use to own the 396t model. the first set of numbers refers to the voltage of the batteries. the second set of numbers is the p25 threshold setting. i do not remember off hand how to adjust the setting to improve reception. i will guess that some further responses will help you. regards and enjoy your radio,
