Hi,

The easiest way I've found is to go to :

1. the MENU
2. SEARCH FOR
3. EDIT SERVICE
4. pick a service
5. SEARCH WITH SCAN
6. SET LOCKOUT
7. LOCKOUT

Repeat that for every search and custom, then you'll get what you want. You'll have to manually select the services and customs from then on out. Works well for me.

Even easier: When the scanner is in a service (or custom) search you don't want to actually search, press F+L/O, L/O to permanently lock it out.

Friend of mine did exactly this, and while locking out each individual Service Search is a workaround, my suggestion is to do what we did. I use ARC software and deleted all systems and reprogrammed the whole scanner. He was a proverbial "button pusher", and added a service search somehow and had no idea what he did. I have both XT models, and never saw that before, so I wiped out the whole thing and problem was resolved.

If you are in the "normal" scanning mode, simply hit the L/O button to lock out something that is being scanned.

If you hit it once, it temporarily locks out the talkgroup ID number (or conventional frequency). When you power the scanner down and then turn it back on, that temporarily locked out ID (or freq) is restored.

If you hit the L/O button twice in rapid succession, then it permanently locks the TGID (or freq) out, even if you turn the scanner off and then back on. Should you want to restore that permanently locked out frequency, then you have to hold on the system and rotate the scroll knob. Once the permanently locked out "thing" appears, hit the L/O button to restore it.

I tried that, for me it took too long. I knew what I wanted to going through the menu was faster...

The way that works well for me is to create a group on unwanted ID's, then lock out the entire group. That way you can add ID's to the group and not have to explicitly lock out each ID. I use this method a lot for encrypted TGIDs as I prefer ID search over ID scan.
