I have read the GPS mod for the 436hp, however how is the 535hp wired to use one of these GPS pucks? All references are for the 4 pin connector and not the 9 pin on the 536. Most of the affordable pucks I see have either a USB or bare wires. I have been searching around. I got nothing. LoL. I can not find a pinout diagram anywhere.

I got the Uniden GPS and it plugged right in, no problems.

Same thing as above but not price gouging like ebay sellers...

Your price you found on ebay is better though... Even if it is used...
It also looks like it is setup to power from an OBD port on the vehicle...

Yes but upon further review it has a male connector. maybe use a gender changer? However I am trying to keep it clean. This is why I want to rewire a new connector. Pinout diagram for the 536 would help and allow me to do that. Murphy's Law always make simple tasks so complicated. I wondered about the power connector. You may be correct. It looks like it was wired DIY for the serial connector. I might be able to just open it up and copy the wiring to a diy female? Now I am starting to think it through more. Thanks. What do you think>

Both of those connectors you can see were added... I don't see any problem changing them though...
You could use a gender changer if thats what you need... If that is pulling power from the OBD port though, thats not cool...
It will power it though... Those pucks don't use much power...

The power and ground I would redo either way. Thanks RandyKuff. Either way it helped me to think it through before I jump. usually I open mouth to insert foot.

I am going to buy the one on e bay and change out the male for a female. Hopefully I can just copy the pin connection number location and be good to go. I can build my own DB9 90 degree connector for under $10. I don't want adapters converters changers or any more stuff in the way. Otherwise I could buy the Uniden conglomeration of 5287 pieces to go from A to B. All for the price a poor man can not afford. Right now I am about $50 of investment. Am I making a good decision this way? I hope so. Is my plan sound or am I still missing something?

I'm questioning the legitimacy if the eBay version. Seem some things come from there that ain't what they said they were. I'd cough up the extra bucks and get the Uniden version. That way if you upgrade to an SDS 200 in the future, you have something forward compatible as the cabling is different (uses a telephone type code). Or if you get another model scanner, etc.

As for legitimacy I sometimes think I have better luck than Amazon. But its a crap shoot either way sometimes. Right now my issue is financial. I found a puck GPS (Globalsat) shipped for $35 and a RS232 to wire up for $10. I think this will be fine until wife gets back to working. Thanks to you and the others. If noting more it helped me to think it through.
