I just purchased a bcd996p2 and I’m new to programming I have successfully programmed the system linked below in the scanner and I’m receiving everything fine but what I’m trying to do is set 4 selected channels that I just want to scan and not hear everything els at times. what is happening when I have set up the system quick keys and group quick keys and shut them off so they don’t scan all the other stuff and just scan my 4 channels I want it’s still picking up the stuff from id scan and still searching for ids if that makes sense. Is there a way around this ? The system is p25 phase ll if that helps any. Like I said I’m new to this so any advice is appreciated

Welcome to the RR forums ffdtruck1:
If you still want other talkgroups to be heard at some point, consider assigning the 4 you're most interested in hearing their own group quick key & assign everything else to another QK
Understanding Quick Keys
Turning Group Quick Keys On/Off

Otherwise if you have no intentions of ever monitoring other talkgroups simply omit them from your programming and turn off ID Search if enabled

You can assign a different system quick key to each site and easily select the site or sites you wish to scan by pressing their quick key numbers on the keypad.

you will want to buy a radio that handles simulcast better.
you could try moving the radio around a bit.
but the real fix is the uniden SDS series of radios.
i know because i will have to buy one myself as my counties 700 simulcast system does poorly on my 325P2 at home.

Could bad weather cause this issue ? And Any chance a better antenna could help this situation in general?

simulcast problems are kind of caused by better antennas.
you want to only 'hear' one tower, so a worse antenna is what you want, try a paperclip (i am not kidding)
or go directional, like a yagi or if you can, lay your antenna down and rotate the radio.
and yes, weather does weird things to radio signals.
