I Just Got In My Bcd996t And Opened It Yesterday And Have Been Trying To Program It And I Cant Do It, Im About To Pull My Hair Out! I Downloaded The Undien Program, Scanlite, And Idtracker And Still Cant Run Any Of Them. The Uniden Program When I Open It, I Cant Find The Link To Connect Radio Reference. Scanlite Comes Up But How Do I Download The Database From This Site To My Scanner? I Easily Done It With Win96 For My Pro96.

What Do I Need To Program My 996t With The Radio Reference Database?

Thanks

I'll probably be flamed, but I'll say it anyway - ARC996 from Butel is the best programming tool for 996/396 radios. You have to pay for it, but you can get a demo version to try out - http://www.butel.nl/bc996/bcd996.html. ARC996 will import database information from RadioReference.

I do not believe Scancat Lite will import RRDB info.

IDTracker will not import RRDB info (it's not meant to be a programming tool).

I don't know if Uniden's UASD software will import from RR - I don't believe so, but I could be wrong.

Long term, you'll want ARC996.

Did you download it and save it somewhere on your system?

CLick Download
- then select Uniden US Models
- then select ARC996-Basic software for Uniden BCD996T
OR
- select ARC996-PRO software for Uniden BCD996T

The last step above depends on what version you want to try. If you click on the link, it'll download the file. Save it to somewhere that you can access it (perhaps the desktop). Then run the setup program. then before you start up the program, make sure you have the programming cable plugged into the scanner and the computer com port.

I've got the software running, and I cleared everything out of my new 996. I am looking through RR and trying to find out how to download just the systems I want, to the 996. I am lost. Here I sit in this forum. From here, where do I proceed?

TIA!

My answer depends on the software you're using. If you're using ARC996, click on Internet, then click on RadioReference, then choose whether you want to import/download a trunked system or conventional system. Then follow the directions from there. At some point you'll enter in your RadioReference login and password so that you can view the systems that you want to import.

If you aren't using ARC996, I can't help you as I don't use other software.

NOTE: IF you want to be able to import systems from the RRDB into your scanner using ARC996, you must become a Premium Subscriber of RadioReference.

I don't believe any of their downloads are corrupt. If you are having that problem, you might want to email them and mention to them that you are having that problem. It could be that they have corrupt versions up (but I doubt it). IT also could be that you are running some antivirus or spyware software or some download manager or something that isn't allowing you to properly download the files in their entirety. Or you could be trying to do the wrong thing with the files you download.

The files you download are in .ZIP format and require software to unarchive/decompress them. Windows XP will handle them by default if you just double-click on teh ZIP file . At any rate, once they are unarchived you'll see the setup or install file in there. You need to execute that setup file to install the program.

If you downloaded the ARC996 Basic and this is the one you bought online from them, then you shoudl have a file stored on your computer called arc996basic_100setup.zip

If you double-click on that file, you should then see arc996basic_100setup.exe . Double-click on that to start the install process.

The process is similar if you downloaded ARC996 PRO.

Sounds nice but my ARC 996 keeps telling me that RRDB refuses my access and RR says it should work fine. Butel says oh thats a RR problem.
