BCT15X and FireTones

I'm trying to set up my BCT15X for the fire tone out feature. How do I find out my fire departments tones? I have a Minitor V and not sure how to go about that.

Thought I would ask here. Thanks in advance for any help

Well there are several ways to go here. First we're going to need where you are (county/state will do) so that we know for where you are looking. Your state's forum is the first obvious choice, apart from the collaboration gateway of our wiki.

Now if we don't already have it, the 15X can search out fire tone outs. The Easier to Read manual might be a good place to start...

and if all else fails - you can use one of several free utilities to find and map them. The are discussed in the FTO wiki...

Do a quick search of the Uniden section here. Easiest us to ask whoever gave you the pager.

At least here in Maryland (can't speak for Michigan), no one but the radio techs would know the reed frequencies - and they're not likely to tell you....best regards..Mike

Tone-out Search will give you the tones.

Press menu and press E/Yes
Tone-out set up - Press E/Yes
Select Tone-out - Tone-out 1 - Press E/Yes
Set Frequency - Press E/Yes
Edit Frequency - Press E/Yes
Enter the fire departments dispatch frequency - Press E/Yes
Press Menu 3 times
Tone-out Stand by - Press E/Yes
You'll see the following:
Tone-out Search
Tone-out 1
A: 0.00 Hz
B: 0.00 Hz
When your department is dispatched, the tones will flash.

Just a reminder. You can't scan and use the tone out feature at the same time. It's one or the other.

jjz - I've asked a total of 3 different stations and got answers withing 24 hours from all three, and I'm not even on any of those departments. That's why I suggested that might be easiest. (Actually two of the stations I asked sent me the entire list for all the FDs in their counties.)
