I have a Uniden Bearcat BCT15X scanner.

I have been using the Uniden USB Cable connected to the BCT15X scanner’s front data port for running ProScan/FreeScan/bcToolPlus software. For aesthetics I don’t want the Uniden USB Cable connected to the scanner’s front data port and desire to have all the wires connected to the back of the scanner.

I would like to find a Serial to USB cable that has a female Serial connector end that I can connect to the male Serial connector port on the back of my BCT15X Scanner and connect the USB end to a USB port on my desktop computer so I can run ProScan/FreeScan/bcToolPlus software.

All of the Serial to USB cables I have been able to find have a male Serial connector end. The problem is that Serial connector port on the back of my BCT15X scanner has a male connector.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a Serial to USB cable that has a female Serial connector end?

Don't forget you will need a NULL Modem Cable or adapter to use the rear port.

You'll need both a null modem and a gender changer to allow the two ends to mate up as you want to do. I'm assuming that your computer does not have a serial port on it, only USB ports. You would connect the null modem to the serial end of the USB adapter and then the gender changer to the null modem on one side and the scanner on the other side. Just about any good computer store should have what you need or you can find them on line.

Purchased a Serial to USB Cable with Male DB-9 connector end (Monoprice.Com P/N 2276) and a DB9 Female/Female Null Adaptor (Cablewholesale.Com P/N 30D1-18400). These items connected to the rear of my BCT15X scanner without any problems and everything is working great. Now my Uniden Bearcat BCT15X scanner installation is a nice, neat, and tidy installation with all my wire connections in the back of the scanner.

Thanks for all the assistance.
